About Bunny Trail: Bunny Trail is filled with all kinds of blossoming fun including springtime art projects, face painting, tasty Teaching Kitchen samples, meet & greets with Truffles the Big Bunny and other characters, petting zoo animals, special performances and so much more!

who can volunteer?

  • Our minimum age is 9. Volunteers 9 - 13 must be accompanied by an adult.
  • Volunteer with a group or your family!
  • Volunteers must complete an application and undergo a background check.
  • School-appointed community service and ISP hours are gladly accepted, based on availability.
  • Court-ordered community service volunteers are not accepted at the Museum.

Please note: While hours are flexible, volunteers must commit to a minimum of three months of service. Volunteers may be required to attend orientation/training to become familiar with Museum procedures, policies and operations.

  • Summer Teen Playologist

    Join the team at the Children’s Museum as a Summer Teen Playologist!  

    Position Responsibilities and Essential Function

    • Maintain a welcoming, enthusiastic attitude while interacting with guests
    • Answer questions about exhibit features and daily activities
    • Support safety and security at the zip-line and water components of Joy Park
    • Support Museum Staff with opening and closing procedures
    • Help clean, reset and restock exhibits, Café, lobby and Gift Shop
    • Provide pricing and inventory control support for Café and Gift Shop
    • Assist with queuing and line control in the Museum lobby

    Position Requirements: Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

    • One 4-hour shift per week from June 12 - August 11
    • Must be at least 13 years of age
    • Excellent customer service and communication skills in noisy environments
    • Capable of working individually and as part of a team
    • Enjoy engaging with the public of all ages and cultural backgrounds
    • Love to play and have fun!

    Physical Working Conditions

    • Must be able to move/sit/stand for 4 hours at a time
    • Must be flexible to work both indoors and outdoors during shift
    Process

    Open interviews are Wednesday, June 7 from 4 - 6:30 pm and Saturday, June 10 from 10 am - 2 pm. Please bring one reference letter from a teacher to your interview. If you are selected to be a Museum Playologist, you must attend a mandatory Volunteer Training & Orientation on Sunday, June 11 from 2 - 5 pm. 
  • Target Tuesday Nights

    Dates: April 4, May 2, June 6, July 11, August 1, September 5 and October 3
    Shift: 4 pm - 8:30 pm

    Through Target's generous sponsorship, families can play for free the first Tuesday evening of each month from 4 - 8 pm. Volunteers interact with Museum guests and encourage play in our world-class exhibits.

  • Teaching Kitchen Assistant

    In our Teaching Kitchen cooking classes, families explore new foods and learn how to make healthy recipes together. Be a part of this amazing program as a Teaching Kitchen Assistant.

    Position Responsibilities and Essential Functions

    • Follow safety and sanitation guidelines
    • Engage with families during class
    • Clean, gather and set necessary equipment for class as directed
    • Interact with Museum guests while distributing food samples using The Tasting Cart

    Position Requirements: Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

    • Experience with cooking, at home or in professional kitchen is preferred
    • Capable of working individually and as part of a team
    • Dedicated, organized and dependable
    • Must be at least 16 years of age

    Physical Working Conditions and Effort

    • Must be able to move/stand for 4 hours at a time
    • Ability to lift 30 - 40 lbs.
    • The noise level in the work environment is moderate to noisy
  • Facility Rental Assistant

    The Facility Rental Assistant provides exceptional customer service while supporting Museum staff during events.

    Position Responsibilities and Essential Functions

    • Assist with operational efforts related to the Museum’s Facility Rental program
    • Provide support with event preparation and breakdown
    • Help to maintain a welcoming, enjoyable and safe environment
    • Ensure clients and caterers are informed of rental rules and guidelines
    • Support administrative needs as necessary

    • Enjoy working with diverse groups of people, creative, outgoing and flexible
    • Exceptional customer service skills
    • Must be 18+

    • Requires ability to lift up to 50 pounds, i.e. setup for events with tables and chairs
  • Art Studio Ambassador

    In The Art Studio, we encourage our guests to let their imagination run wild! Between painting, drawing, collaging and crafting, there is always a new creative experience to explore.

    Position Responsibilities and Essential Functions

    • Ensure a clean and safe environment
    • Make phone calls to guests and keep detailed notes
    • Clean, reset and refill painting supplies
    • Maintain the Invitation Table in an organized manner
    • Support Museum safety policies

    • Ability to articulate with clear speaking voice
    • Dedicated and dependable
    • Works well with minimal supervision and structure
    • Must be at least 16 years of age

  • Guest Services Ambassador

    Create a sparkling first impression for our Museum guests by engaging them in the Admissions area as a Guest Services Ambassador!

    Position Responsibilities and Essential Functions

    • Provide information, directions and answers to questions regarding the Museum and our programs and events
    • Ensure a clean and safe lobby area
    • Supports Museum safety policies

    Position Requirements: Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

    • Ability to articulate with clear speaking voice
    • Dedicated and dependable
    • Works well with minimal supervision and structure
    • Must be at least 16 years of age

  • Gift Shop Assistant

    Do you love to shop til you drop? Then helping out in our Gift Shop is for you!

    Position Responsibilities and Essential Functions

    • Provide a fun and engaging Gift Shop experience for members and guests
    • Assist with selecting, ordering, pricing and stocking Gift Shop products
    • Maintain a clean and organized Gift Shop
    • Assist with conducting inventory counts as needed

    Position Requirements: Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

    • Comfortable working in a busy retail environment
    • Excellent customer service, interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills
    • Enthusiastic, self-motivated and organized
    • Previous retail, purchasing or merchandising experience is preferred
    • Comfortable with phones and basic administrative duties
    • Must be at least 16 years of age

  • Membership Assistant

    The Membership Assistant provides essential support to our membership team.

    • Process membership applications
    • Support database entry and related administrative tasks
    • Be friendly, engaging and fun while representing the Museum in a positive and professional manner

    Position Requirements: Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

    • Organized and self-motivated
    • Strong customer service and communication skills
    • Capable of working individually and as part of a team
    • Comfortable with phones and basic administrative duties
    • Must be at least 15 years of age

    Physical Working Conditions and Effort

    • Must be able to move/sit/stand for 4 - 6 hours at a time
    • Must be able to type 30 wpm.
  • Evaluation and Audience Research Assistant

    The Evaluation and Audience Research Assistant provides essential support to Museum staff by assisting with data collection on the Museum floor, data entry and other crucial tasks.

    Position Responsibilities and Essential Functions

    • Data collection activities on the Museum floor, for example, asking adult guests to complete digital surveys
    • Assist Museum staff with data collection by interacting and engaging with children while adult guests are being interviewed
    • Data entry and administrative tasks related to evaluation and research

    Position Requirements: Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

    • Fluent in verbal and written English
    • Bilingual Spanish a plus
    • Confident and friendly while talking with children and adults
    • Demonstrated ability to take initiative in completing tasks
    • Computer proficiency
    • Must be at least 15 years of age

    Physical Working Conditions and Effort

    • Must be able to move/sit/stand for 4 - 6 hours at a time
    • Many shifts will take place on the Museum floor, a moderate to noisy environment
  • Accessibility Playologist

    The Accessibility Playologist is responsible for facilitating activities, engaging with guests and keeping exhibit spaces organized and inviting during accessibility events. Playologist volunteers gain hands-on experience helping children and families with disabilities engage in meaningful play-based learning. Volunteers have the opportunity to collaborate with education staff to enhance programming designed for access and inclusion in the Museum.

    Accessibility volunteers must be at least 18 years of age and attend a staff accessibility training. Shifts are Saturday mornings (bi-monthly) from 7:30 am - 10:30 am.
